Do-it yourself Moving Tips
Packing Tips

  • Use a Dish Pack box to  pack fragile dishes & china
  • Save money & don’t use  bubble wrap to wrap items  being packed into boxes.
    Use paper! It takes up less space and you use  LESS BOXES!
  • Use wadded up paper  for cushioning, between  tiers of packed dishes.
  • Always stack dishes side  by side vertically!

Always put a piece of masonite down before pulling out a refrigerator or a washer and dryer (so you don’t tear the floor!)

Mattresses are heavy and hard to move.
So, put them into mattress bags to avoid soiling them!

Always use an appliance dolly on the side of the refrigerator
(not the front or back!)

Put it on wheels! Heavy items move easier on 4-wheeled dollies!

Other Moving Tips:

  • Put down floor runners  on wood and carpeted
    areas;
  • Load truck in tiers with heavy items on the
    bottom;
  • Rent at least 5 dozen furniture pads for a
    24’ truck;
  • Loading goes faster
    with a ramp for most
    items;
  • Don’t ever slide furniture
    or boxes on floors in
    your  house or the
    driveway;
  • Remove only breakable items from RF on local moves;
  • Remove and individually wrap glass shelves;
  • It’s OK to leave clothing
    in dresser drawers.
