What "no hidden charges" actually means

Every mover says it. Here is the specific list of things that are included in our rate and are commonly billed as extras elsewhere — worth checking line by line against any other quote you have. If something is not on this list, ask us rather than assume: we would rather answer the question than let you find out on the invoice.

• Stairs, at either end, however many flights
• Elevators and second-floor buildings
• Long carries from the door to where the truck can park
• Wardrobe boxes and mattress bags
• Pad-wrap, moving blankets and shrink wrap
• Disassembly and reassembly of furniture
• Appliance disconnect and reconnect
• Placing furniture where you want it, and moving it again

And one that is not a fee at all: there is no deposit to book a date.

Why one company for all of it

After 41 years the pattern is consistent: the moves that go wrong are the ones split across vendors who each assume someone else handled a step.

A senior move is the clearest example. It is usually a pack, a move, some storage for what does not fit, and a full clearance of the family home — four jobs that most families end up hiring three companies for. We do all four, and you have one phone number and one person who knows the whole picture.

The same is true of an office relocation with a furniture cleanout, or a house sale where the stager needs half the furniture gone before photography.

• Chatsworth — About twenty minutes east through the Santa Susana Pass on the 118.
• West Hills — About twenty-five minutes east on the 118, then south on Valley Circle.
• Calabasas — About thirty minutes south-east via the 23 and the 101.
• Oak Park — About twenty minutes south on the 23.
